Bhaswar Chatterjee made a short trip to
Kashmir just ahead of the imposition of partial lockdown in Bengal. “My obsession with Kashmir started when I visited the valley in 2019. This time, when
Monami Ghosh went on a vacation to Kashmir and posted her pics on social media, I couldn’t control myself. In just two days, I booked tickets for me and my father and landed there,” he told us.
First on his list was Pahalgam. “It was April and Pahalgam was at its best with the
Pir Panjal
range fully covered with snow. I went to
Chandanwari
from where the Amarnath Yatra starts and saw Betaab valley. The most difficult trip was to the Baisaran valley climbing down steep mountains, crossing rivers and then again moving uphill.” Bhaswar said, adding that they stayed on a houseboat on the Dal Lake in
Srinagar. “Watching the sun setting from the deck was breathtaking. In those few days, I completed my wishlist of destinations like Hazratbal Dargah,
Shalimar Bagh
, Lal Chowk,
Jama Masjid
, Manasbal Lake and Sind river,” said the actor.
Bhaswar said he bonded big time with the tour guide, Riyan Manzoor, who helped them taste authentic Kashmiri food and took them to places where a tourist wouldn’t generally go. “I even went to watch a cricket match with him at Ganderbal. Since I know the Kashmiri language, Riyan and I used to record Kashmiri songs in our free time too,” he said.
