He wanted to be in the team too, but was not allowed in, while
Prosenjit Chatterjee and Anindya Chattopadhyay hit back-to-back sixers with their Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne announcements. But supported by Jeet, the sultan, Pavel is ready to prove that match abhi baaki hai. I’d told you that Pavel was a regular at the actor’s office and it looks like the coochie cooing has finally led to something substantial.
I hear that in 2016, the young director got his story titled Abar Hirak Deshe registered with The Film Writers Association, Mumbai, and has since been diligently working on the film’s storyboard. Industry insiders say that Pavel was in touch with Prosenjit and not only narrated the story to him but also promised to make the film for him. I don’t know what happened next, but Prosenjit — with no Pavel by his side — recently announced a modern version of Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne without roping in a director or fixing up the cast and also released the first poster. If I am not wrong, he even offered the director’s chair to Anindya, who wants to make his own version of the Ray classic. Anindya had, by then, made a commitment to Arijit Dutta about bringing back on screen the two iconic characters. Incidentally, Ray’s Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne was produced by Nepal Dutta, Arijit’s grandfather and proprietor of Purnima Pictures. Thus, Arijit feels that if anyone can stake a claim to a sequel, it has to be him. With so many Goopys and Baghas in the pipeline, we have to see who’ll end up working the best magic. As of now, Prosenjit is busy with Ke Hobe Banglar Kotipoti and Anindya with the release of Monojder Adbhut Bari. So Pavel and Jeet think they can do a high-five and reach Shundi before the rest. As for the box-office magic? We’ll have to wait and watch for that one.
