Battle for good cinema will continue: Bappaditya

Battle for good cinema will continue: Bappaditya
Ahead of his first schedule for Kolkata 2012, Bappaditya Bandopadhyay talks about how he wants to pack in eight stories in a film of two hours.Whats the benchmark when you decided which stories of marginalised people you will be narrating in Kolkata 2012?Personal experiences are my benchmark. I write my stories based on my interaction with them. When I did Houseful, I knew the characters from my personal experiences.Quite a number of movies have been made weaving multiple stories. How do you plan to avoid the problem of balance while interconnecting these stories? There are eight stories that I have chosen. The duration of the movie is two hours. I will not be giving equal billing to all the stories. They will run parallel to each other. Some of them may not even have a definite ending. Are your stories based on real life characters? Will it have a documentary feel to it?These are all inspired from real life. But this is a feature film. I will fictionalize the events.Give a lowdown on what you will be shooting in the first schedule of the movie Shooting for the first schedule will be held between July 13 and July 26. The first story is about a person who wants to go away from the city though deep inside, he cant leave Kolkata. Rudranil Ghosh plays the protagonist of this story. The second will be of a lady bus conductor. Rupa Bhattacharya will play the role. The third story is about a man in Chinatown who loves to each chowmein and a girl who works in a chili sauce company. Rahul will play the lead in this movie. With Bengali movies not doing well at the box-office this year, what gives you the courage to start another film?I have been struggling since 1998. I have survived for this long and the battle for good cinema will continue.
