Rong Beronger Kori may have had a lukewarm response in Bengal, but it’s been lauded in several other states like Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Bangalore, where it was a festival selection. Director Ranjan Ghosh is happy that the film, along with two more Bengali features, has made it to the Indian competition section of Bengaluru International Film Festival. “It’s a sought-after festival in the country and comes close to its counterpart in Kerala. The film festival is organised by Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy and is supported by Government of Karnataka. I truly feel honoured that Rong Beronger Kori has been included in the Indian competition,” he said. Ranjan added that though his film was praised by many, it was a bit special when his film mentor, Aparna Sen, was surprised at the speed with which he finished the film. “We covered 25 locations in 10 days and gave us a lot of joy. Be it Debajyoti Mitra, Rabiranjan Moitra or Sirsha Ray, who are a part of my team, were all overjoyed when we managed to pull it off. But when Rinadi (Aparna Sen) heard about it, she was very surprised,” said the director. While Rong Beronger Kori continues to take rounds of festivals, Ranjan is ready with his next. Titled Aaha Re, the film starring Rituparna Sengupta and Bangadeshi actor Arifin Shuvo is set to hit the screens in February.
