Atanu Ghosh hopes to release his film in theatres by end of this year

Atanu Ghosh is happy that his film,

Robibar

, starring Prosenjit Chatterjee and Jaya Ahsan bagged Critics’ Choice Film Awards for Best Director (Bengali) and Best Writing (Bengali). The award is given by the Film Critics Guild of India in eight Indian languages. “They took time to send me the trophies because of this lockdown. This award is special to me. First of all, it comes from a national body of eminent film critics, who get to watch the very best of Indian cinema from different languages. Second of all, it recognises our efforts to carry on the exploration of alternative modes of storytelling in

Bengali

cinema,” said Atanu.

The director is looking forward to the release of Binisutoy (Without Strings), featuring Ritwik Chakraborty and Jaya Ahsan later this year. “I always prefer a theatrical release, as I feel watching a film on a big canvas has its own charm. It's a film with a distinctly different concept and widely appreciated at the film festivals across the world. So, I hope situations get better and the film releases by the end of this year.”
