Artists’ Forum gets a new committee

After the annual general meeting, the members of West Bengal Motion Picture Artists’ Forum elected a new committee on Monday. Arindam Ganguly is elected as the general secretary for his seventh consecutive term.

While Soumitra Chatterjee, Tapash Chakraborty and

Sohan Bandyopadhyay

won uncontested for the positions of president, treasurer and assistant treasurer respectively, Jeet,

Paran Badyopadhyay

and Soham were elected as vice president and

Sankar Chakraborty

was elected as the working president. Shantilal Mukherjee and

Saptarshi Ray

are the new joint secretaries, Debdut Ghosh and Rana Mitra are the assistant secretaries.

After the results were announced, Sohan Bandyopadhyay said, “We have never encouraged any political colour in the forum. We are all artistes and that is our only identity in this organisation. It is a personal win or defeat for the members sans any political motive behind it.”

The new executive committee will assume office for the year 2020-2021.The election was followed after the AGM that took place on February 9 at Jodhpur Park Boys’ School. The meeting started at 10 am, while the election started at noon and went on till 5 pm. The counting started at 6 pm on Sunday and went on till 10.30 am on Monday. Nearly 2,000 members cast their votes.
