Arindam Sil’s birthday bash was a starry affair

Director Arindam Sil turned a year younger on Wednesday. To celebrate the special day, his wife Shukla and daughter Sonika organised a party at a city pub that was attended by family members and close associates. “Shukla and Sonika planned everything – from the guest list to the menu. I just went like a guest and was overjoyed when I saw all those who matter in our lives were present,” said the director, who played a perfect host and attended to each guest personally.

When asked about his birthday resolution, Arindam said, “To make more meaningful and better films, contribute more to Bengali cinema and spend quality time with family and friends.”

Koel Mallick, who was also present, said, “Arindam da is my director now, as we’re shooting for Ekti Khunir Sondhane Mitin. If I miss his special day, he will chuck me out of the film. Jokes apart, how can I ever miss his birthday?”

The starters and dinner spreads were elaborate, with all items on the menu being the director’s favourites. “Khow Suey is one of my favourite dishes, so Sonika made it a point to include it. There was also sautéd prawn, pizza, mutton rogan josh, biryani, rasmalai and baked Alaska, among others,” Arindam told us with a smile.
