Bengal’s favorite truth seeker
Byomkesh Bakshi
will be back on the big screen to unravel a murder mystery. Bishupal Bodh is an incomplete story of Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay which has been completed by
Arindam Sil and
Padmanabha Dasgupta for the movie. It will mark Arindam Sil’s fourth Byomkesh directorial and
Abir Chatterjee will be seen in his very famous Byomkesh avatar. The film is untitled at the moment.
Set in the tumultuous Naxalite uprising in Bengal in 1971, Byomkesh Bakshi gets involved in a story of vengeance when he decides to attend a play at the theatre and becomes witness to a crime unfolding on the center stage. As Byomkesh Bakshi digs deep into the case, it opens him to a tripartite story of love, betrayal, and infidelity. And how the mystery is laid bare for Byomkesh to solve.
Commenting on his fourth Byomkesh directorial, Arindam Sil said, “Of all the movies I have made till now, the Byomkesh movies have always been very close to my heart. I am immensely happy to direct the fourth Byomkesh movie and since it is based on an incomplete story, completing it was the biggest challenge for
Padmanabha
and me. I hope that the audience will shower the same amount of love that I have received for my previous Byomkesh films.”
Along with Abir Chatterjee,
Sohini Sarkar will reprise the role of Satyabati and Suhotra Mukhopadhyay will be seen portraying the character of Byomkesh’s favorite companion Ajit.
The film will go on the floors in May.
