AR Rahman’s praise for Bohurupi's music sparks excitement

Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee’s film Bohurupi features a richly diverse music album, showcasing everything from vibrant rural folk tunes to lively, peppy numbers and soulful romantic melodies. The album's first release, "Shimul Polash," a traditional marriage song from rural Bengal, was performed by the talented bohurupi artist Nanichora Das Baul and Shrestha Das, with music composed by Bonnie Chakraborty. Released on Friday, the song quickly captivated audiences with its evocative rendition and stunning cinematography.What took the team by surprise was receiving wishes from none other than the legendary AR Rahman. Bonnie Chakraborty, who composed the track, was overwhelmed by the gesture. “It was a major surprise,” Bonnie remarked. His journey with Rahman spans eight years, during which he collaborated as a vocalist on renowned projects such as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero, Mangal Pandey, Jodha Akbar, and Guru, among others. Their relationship, which began in Chennai, evolved from work interactions to a personal connection—Bonnie even visited Rahman’s home for Eid. Although Bonnie later moved to Mumbai, they kept in touch through email, with Rahman extending his best wishes for Bonnie’s son, Bandish. “Receiving validation for my work from the master feels like life has come full circle,” Bonnie reflected.The excitement is palpable among the Bohurupi team.
