Madhumanti Maitra took to social media to praise the film Barunbabur Bondhu, where her daughter Anusha Viswanathan plays the character of
Soumitra Chatterjee’s granddaughter.
Madhumanti wrote: Anik Dutta’s best yet and it will be interesting to see how he surpasses this masterpiece in his future endeavours. It’s no point talking about how the language of cinema is perfect here or how he fine hones the mise en scene.
Barun Babur Bondhu is all about mainstreaming a world view that was thought to be unfashionable. It is about the resurrection of wit and intelligence and sensitivity- not only in cinema- but it’s lingering influence in life. And it’s eminently entertaining. Superbly paced and edited- not one frame, nor one word, seems extra. See it with your children and it will bring them closer to you- more understanding of your values. Wish Satyajit Ray were alive to see what perfect progression his genre had made in his disciple’s hands. Kudos to Anik and the entire Barun Babur Bondhu team (sic). An elated Anusha said, “It feels great when your mother praises your effort. Ma really liked the film and loved my acting.”
