Another Teen Kanya on its way

Women-oriented films are not new in Bollywood. And Tollywood too is waking up to it now.

’s latest film,

Teen Kanya

, revolves around three women, each of whom has a story to share. Also, they are completely different from one another. The primary characters in the movie are a theatre worker, a domestic help and a college student. Each of the three stories has a separate name.

The one on the life of the theatre worker is titled Binodini. The lead is played by

Rii

. The story on the domestic help is called Bedsheet. Its lead is essayed by

Sayantani Guha Thakurta

. The third, which is about a woman involved in student politics, is called Good Morning Revolution. Its protagonist is played by Amrita Chattopadhyay. While Binodini will see a woman being humiliated by a theatre director, Bedsheet is about how the domestic help unmasks the dada-boudi she works for. The third story is about a girl, who gives up the opportunity to study medicine and opts for comparative literature at a city university. One fine morning, cops come calling on her family to inform that she has got involved with a banned political organisation. The shoot will begin on July 2.
In 1961, Satyajit Ray had come up with Teen Kanya, an Indian Bengali anthology film based on short stories by Rabindranath Tagore. Sabyasachi too is inspired by the style of filmmaking by Ray. His Teen Kanya will do the rounds of festivals before it gets released in Bengal.
