It seems to be no stopping for ‘Abyakto’, young filmmaker Arjunn Dutta’s directorial debut. It has already travelled a hand full of festivals across India and abroad and now here comes an international recognition.
The film which was recently screened in the official selection of Indian Film at Indo-German Film Week has won the Audience Award for Best Regional Film.
It’s no surprise Arjunn is a happy man right now.
The film starring Arpita Chatterjee,
Adil Hussain,
Anubhav Kanjilal, Anirban Ghosh, Kheya Chattopadhyay and others focuses on the complex relationship between a mother and son. It’s moving story of a son who casts away from his mother, the estrangement worsening after the death of his father. It is ‘Abayakto's narrative simplicity that catapults it to memorable heights.
Anubhav who plays the son in Arjunn’s film is also excited about the film. “It’s the closest project I’ve ever been a part of. A brilliantly written and directed film by Arjunn. And all the appreciation this film has been receiving is absolutely deserved. Arpita Chatterjee plays the role of my mother and she is magnificent and an extremely talented actor. I would request everyone to watch the film for her as you’ll remember her performance for a long time. Adil Hussain as we all know is one of the best actors in the country today and he is unbelievably humble. He knows how to give the co actor the required cooperation so that the co-artist can give best of his/her performance,” said the talented actor whose next is opposite Ishaa Saha in Anjan Kanjilal’s ‘Sahobashe’.
