Ranjan Ghosh’s latest offering ‘Aha Re’ continues its good run at the international festival arena. After a good run at the box office and the recent screening in Bengaluru, Delhi and Hyderabad, the relationship drama now gets yet another festival laurel in Bangladesh. It has been selected in the 'World Cinema' section of the 18th

Dhaka International Film Festival

, 2020.

Ranjan’s film will also be screened at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne next month. In fact, only two Bengali films have been selected for the Melbourne film fest. Apart from ‘

Ahaa Re

’, the second one is Aneek Chaudhuri’s ‘Cactus’.

‘Ahaa Re’ sees a rich Bangladeshi Muslim (Bangladeshi actor Arifin Shuvoo), a middle-class Indian Hindu, and the medium of food, the fusion of Epaar Bangla and Opaar Bangla - setting the course of their love story. There are some noteworthy performances to savour as well. Rituparna Sengupta has delivered with considerable restraint right through. As the old patriarch bristling at being addressed as meshomoshai, who is keen to learn magic even at this ripe old age, Paran Bandyopadhyay is exceptional.
