Anjan Dutt has already wrapped up the shoot for his next ‘Saheber Cutlet’. He is also the creative advisor for Sayantan Ghosal’s next Byomkesh film. And then he will start working on a new franchise. But it won’t be an adventure or crime thriller rather. It’s based on the much-acclaimed novel Shrikanto written by
Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay
. The original novel has four parts. However, Anjan plans to combine the four parts in three films. Greentouch Entertainment will bankroll the project.
Actor
Suprobhat Das who earned accolades for his natural acting in recent films like ‘Aami Asbo Phirey’, ‘Byomkesh Gowtro’ and ‘Finally Bhalobasha’ will play the titular character of Shrikanto. This project is surely the biggest turning point in Suprobhat’s career in his first lead role, that too for a three-part franchise.
“The character of Shrikanto needs a good actor and someone who is comparatively new and do not carry an image. Suprobhat fits appropriately in both of these criteria,” said Anjan.
The rest of the cast is yet to be finalized. There are some crucial female characters in the story like Annada Didi, Rajlakshmi, Abhaya and Kamallata. Anjan Dutt has few names in her mind to play the female leads like
Parno Mittra
,
Payel Sarkar, Gargee Roychowdhury but nothing has been confirmed so far.
We have already seen a few adaptations of the iconic novel where a part of the story has been adapted in the adaptations, but so far no one has tried to adapt the whole story in one franchise.
