Anjan Dutt's film celebrating Mrinal Sen's life and legacy to screen at KIFF

Legendary filmmaker Mrinal Sen would have turned 100 this year. To commemorate his birth century year, musician and filmmaker Anjan Dutt is all set to fascinate the audience with his film Chaalchitra Ekhon which is selected to screen at the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF). The film reflects upon Dutt’s early days and his bonding with the maestro and the city.
Film connoisseurs in Kolkata will be able to watch Dutt’s movie at KIFF. The film festival will take place at Kolkata’s Nandan between 5th and 12th December. Chaalchitra Ekhon will compete for the Golden Royal Bengal Tiger Award for Best Film in the International competition: Innovation in moving image segment. He and his son Neel have financed the film. According to sources, this is the only Bengali feature film that has been selected in the international competition.
“What could be better than paying homage to our dear Mrinal Sen, who has majorly contributed to our lives? It’s a very personal film for Baba (Anjan Dutt) and me,” says music composer Neel Dutt.

The actor Sawon Chakraborty who is playing Dutt, shared his experience of working in such an exposure for the first time. "I'm grateful to have associated my name with such a project, where two gems of the film industry are involved. I have learned a lot from Anjan Da. Playing the character was indeed challenging. When you try to portray someone significant, it comes with a huge responsibility,” said the actor.
