Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury has finally started shooting for his next Hindi film ‘

Lost

’ in Kolkata. On Sunday, Yami Gautam who plays the leading lady in the film shot for a few scenes in Kalighat area. Wearing a simple yellow kurta the actress looked every bit in her character of an investigative journalist in the film.

To be shot in Kolkata and Purulia in a packed schedule, ‘Lost’ also stars Rahul Khanna and Pankaj Kapur in key roles along with well-known Kolkata actors Kaushik Sen, Sohag Sen, Suman Mukhopadhyay and actor-director Arindam Sil.

So, what made him cast Yami Gautam as a journalist that too Kolkata being the backdrop? To this, Aniruddha makes an interesting point. “I needed a very impactful and intelligent face which could express the emotions of a character walking on a thin red line. Yami (Gautam) fit the part very well. I am so happy that I will be getting to work with her. She is an excellent actor and has a very sharp mind,” explained the director who had made his first Hindi film ‘Pink’ five years ago and in his first Bollywood directorial he had managed to win hearts.

When asked why he opted for Kolkata as the film’s backdrop the critically acclaimed filmmaker said: Kolkata is an amazing city, it has everything. The city has a certain fragrance that you won’t find anywhere else. Organically, I picked Kolkata as the setting because this is the city I know best. It’s in my blood. There are good artistes and technicians here. I haven’t seen a city with as much character as Kolkata. Also, the authorities here have been very helpful and very cooperative. It should be the next destination for film-making. It’s a city that should reach the world.”
