Anirban Bhattacharya all set to direct a feature film

Actor Anirban Bhattacharya, who had donned the director’s hat for an OTT project, is all set to direct a feature film titled

Ballavpurer Roopkotha

. Anirban co-wrote the story, which is based on Badal Sarkar’s popular drama, Ballavpurer Rupkotha, with Prateek Dutta and the film’s DoP is Soumik Halder. The music of the film will be composed by

Subhadeep Guha

and

Debraj Bhattacharya

.
The story is about the almost crumbling Rajbari of Ballavpur which has only two men living in it — the last descendant of the Ray dynasty,

Bhupati Ray

, and his inherited menial Manohar. Both are overburdened with heavy debt and seek no hope of betterment until one day they get a proposal to sell off their property. What continues is a hullabaloo of actions by Bhupati Ray, Manohar, the buyers and one ghost who makes Ballavpur Rajbari a temple of chaos for a night.

Speaking to us, Anirban said, “I have always been extremely fond of horror comedies/satires since childhood and needless to say, we are fortunate enough to get some fantastic horror comedies from great filmmakers over the years. I hope this film will be liked by the audience.”
When we asked him if he’ll be acting in the film, Anirban said, “Most probably I won’t. We are at present thinking about who to cast in it.”
When asked which he finds more interesting, acting or directing? “Acting at the end of the day is an individual process while the direction is a collaborative effort. So, both acting and directing have their own charm,” said Anirban.
