Aniket Chattopadhayay’s ‘Shankar Mudi’ has been in the news for quite some time now. The film is finally releasing on March 15. It revolves around the lives of people living in a suburban locality and how their life changes when a shopping mall is installed in the area.
When we asked the director how challenging it was to make a film on such a serious issue he simply says the main focus was to showcase the story as it is.
“I didn’t want to get diverted from the main topic. The main thing was to narrate the story as it is. So I kept that in mind also while shooting for the film. For instance there is a scene where a radio is being played at a tea shop
continuously. I tried to retain the essence of those times gone by. That was sort of a challenge. Plus, the cast includes almost all the leading actors in Bengali cinema. Be it
Kaushik Ganguly,
Saswata Chatterjee, Shantilal Mukherjee,
Sreela Majumdar,
Anjan Dutt, Jisshu Sengupta and others. The list as you see is quite huge. So many good actors in one film is a difficult task to handle and I am happy that I did it,” explains Aniket.
Beside ‘Shankar Mudi’, the noted director is also working on his next ‘Hobu Chandra Raja Gobu Chandra Mantri’ which stars Saswata Chatterjee and
Kharaj Mukherjee in the lead. The film will start rolling from March 8.
