On Thursday, the National Award winning director took to his social media handle to post a long note thanking everyone for supporting him and also announced camera starts rolling for his next ‘Dwitiyo Purush’ from today (October 18).

“Today we begin the shoot of #DwitiyoPurush and tomorrow #Gumnaami releases all over India in its Hindi dubbed version.
Through hundreds of standing ovations and thousands of tearful eyes, #Gumnaami achieved what it set out to do - there has been a huge spike in interest level about the myserious disappearance of Netaji and the various theories around it, especially in the younger generation. There has been a renewed demand to revisit the findings of Mukherjee Commission. And there has been a clamouring for a sequel - once the Sahay Commission Report is out or there is more evidence supporting the Death in Russia theory.
Also, for the numerically minded, in just two weeks, #Gumnaami has collected around 4.25 cr NBOC and is well on its way to become both my highest grosser and the highest grosser this year. It has also notched up an average Critic's rating of 3.5/5 and an average Audience rating of 4.5/5.
So finally I will like to thank everyone who supported me in this journey and this fight and made #Gumnaami this monumental success. And I will also like to thank everyone who opposed, criticised and fought it tooth and nail - some intelligently, some brainlessly, some logically, some suffering from delusional political binaries, some fairly and some with uncouth personal attack.
Every action of yours strengthened my resolve in the mission. Made me ask myself, mentally paraphrasing Howard Roark, the question is not who is going to let me, it is who is going to stop me. Shubho Bijoya,” wrote Srijit.

'Gumnaami', produced by SVF, is based on the famous Mukherjee Commission hearings where the three theories about Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s alleged death were debated. Starring Prosenjit Chatterjee in the titular role, the film sees Anirban Bhattacharya playing a print journalist Chandrachur Dhar and Tnusree Chakraborty as his wife.
