For
Amrita Chattopadhyay, this year’s
Xavotsav
will forever remain special. On Wednesday afternoon, the actress promoted her forthcoming film,
Aaha Re
, at St Xavier’s College’s annual fest, along with
Rituparna Sengupta and director
Ranjan Ghosh. Amrita, who passed out of the college a few years back, was a student of sociology honours at St Xavier's. “Xavotsav brings back many memories. When I was in first year, Sonu Nigam performed at the college. We were so enthusiastic that we would attend all the programmes and diligently bring the passes from our seniors. We’d even buy new clothes from a nearby market to wear at the fest. Later on, I got choosy about the selection of events. Since Xavotsav is organised by the outgoing students, when we were juniors, we would be wonder-eyed about them,” said Amrita. This year, she showed the trailer of her film at the fest and also spoke about it. “I was ecstatic and nostalgic — all at the same time. Both my college besties don’t stay in Kolkata anymore. While one lives in Bangalore, another lives in Delhi. So, when I came home from college, I texted them about my experience. We instantly connected over it. College is the best part of anyone’s life,” said Amrita. In Aaha Re, she plays girlfriend to Arifin Shuvo’s character — a chef in Dhaka. The girl is both focused and independent and Amrita said she can totally relate to her. “She’s like any other girl in today’s day and age,” said Amrita with a smile.
