Sharing the trailer of her latest short film, Anurup, the veteran actor wrote on social media: “She possessed passion for cinema, she studied determinedly among the best in the World despite trying and difficult circumstances & means. Walked alone, walked with pride & confidence ..my admiration !”

is a 45-minute short film written and directed by Kankana; it stars Tollywood actor couple Mithu and

Sabyasachi

Chakrabarty. It is the story of a father and daughter who have been estranged for six years and are now thrown in together by circumstances. Will coming face to face solve the situation or make it worse? The short revolves around Shyamal Chakraborty and his daughter, Jinia, who are both theatre artistes. Jinia is an exact replica of Shyamal and that becomes the crisis point in the story.

Talking about the compliment she received, Kankana said, “It was totally unexpected. He was aware of the project, knew when I started editing it, like he is aware of my life and the many ups and downs. Yesterday, when I sent the trailer to him, it was already decided that we would release it on May 6. But he mailed me later in the night asking if he could share it on social media. I checked if the trailer was alright and got back to him. But I didn’t know he would write about my journey. I am elated. I don’t even know if I deserve this.”
