Amit Sen to go the Hollywood way
Much has been written about how Rajinikanth will be wearing a body suit with 80 cameras following him to use Motion Capture Technology (MOCAP) for his forthcoming magnum opus, Kochadaiyaan. Here, in Tollywood, a filmmaker is also geared up to use the same technology while shooting his 3D film HaJaBaRaLa.
Director Amit Sen has already begun the preparation for using MOCAP and has roped in actor Goutam Halder to select a team of performers who will enact the sequences to use this technology.

This is the first time this technology will be used in Tollywood. Says Amit, Goutam Halder will be identifying the team of artistes for the MOCAP sequences. They will wear green dresses with markers on their faces that will translate their facial expressions on to the computer generated images. A sophisticated version of this technology was used in big-budget Hollywood and Bollywood movies like Steven Spielbergs The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, James Camerons Avatar and Anubhav Sinhas Ra.One.
The budget, however, will not permit Sen to aspire for the effects that the Hollywood films have had. We will be using this technology according to what our budget permits. The budget for this Goutam Kundu production would be at least 3 crore, he says.
Meanwhile, Srikanto Pal has created clay models from Sukumar Rays text, including Kakeshwar Kuchkuche, Byakaran Shing BA Khadyabisharad, Sheyal Ukil, Udho, Budho, Beral, Kumir, Nyara and Pencha.
We will be using prosthetics for Hijibijbij and Ive already spoken to experts in Mumbai, Sen adds about the movie whose story and ideation have been done by Srijato and him.
Srijato has written the dialogues, while the screenplay is being written by Pubali Chowdhury of Rock On!! fame, Srijato and me. Debajyoti Mishra is scoring the music and Sukalyan Bhattacharya will be doing the choreography. Cinematographer Jogendra Panda has done extensive research and worked on 3D cameras. He is perhaps the first Indian to design a 3D rig, Sen adds.
