Amartya Ray thrilled to work with Ajay Devgn

Amartya Ray has completed the Kolkata leg of shooting with

Ajay Devgan

for Amit Sharma’s Maidaan. The film will chronicle the golden years of Indian football and features Ajay Devgnas the legendary football coach,

Syed Abdul Rahim

. Rahim served the Indian football team as coach and manager from 1950-1963. It was under his guidance that the Indian football team won gold at the

1962 Asian Games

and he also led the team to the semi-finals of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.

Though we hear that Amartya’s character is based on ace footballer Chuni Goswami, the actor is tight lipped about it. “I can’t reveal my character now. But it was indeed a pleasure to work with Ajay sir. I had some very important scenes with him, which included playing football. The way he helped me was unbelievable. During the shoot, I fell and got hurt. Ajay sir came running and asked the physiotherapist, who is with us always, about my condition. He is very calm and composed. One can always find him on the sets sitting with the team,” said the actor, who will fly off to Mumbai in January for the last leg of the shoot.

Talking about his working experience with Amit, the director of the film, Amartya said, “For any actor, it is a delight to work with Amit sir. He is a guardian on the sets. The way he explains a shot to any actor is so explicit that there is no doubt left.”
