Gold

is a fictional story set in the backdrop of real-life incidents of India winning its first gold medal in hockey in the 1948 Summer Olympics.Said Akshay, “Not many know that I lived and worked in Kolkata in 1984-85. I picked up many Bengali words at that time, but after years of living in Mumbai, I may have forgotten many of them. Bengali is a sweet language and I love it.” He also spoke about Arko Pravo Mukherjee’s melliflous songs in the film and added that the film is bound to give the audience an understanding of hockey in that era.
