South Asian International Film Festival today. The film is part of the festival’s Asia Premiere section. Talking to us from Singapore, which is her second home, the actress said, “It’s an honour that the film has made it to the festival that has a grand jury. Also, Richa Chadha and Akshaye Khanna-starrer Section 375 will close the festival. All my friends were waiting for this day. They are coming with me. Also, Sanjay (husband), who was supposed to leave for Philippines, has gracefully accepted the offer to join us for the screening.” On Friday, Rituparna, along with the director of her film, Ranjan Ghosh, visited Sanjay’s plush new office. “After he changed his office, this is for the first time that I visited his workplace. Ranjan was thrilled,” said Rituparna. The actress, whose children live in Singapore now, said this trip was indeed special. “Ankan (son) turned a year older recently. To mark the occasion, the four of us had a quiet dinner at a Japanese fusion restaurant. A few days before his birthday, he also had a private party, where the parents were not invited,” she said. Ahaa Re is a human drama that revolves around food. Rituparna plays the role of Basundhara, a Kolkata woman running a home kitchen. The film is about the bond she shares with a Bangladeshi chef, played by Arifin Shuvo. The film has already made it to several festivals, and is being screened at Singapore South Asian International Film Festival, along with Arjunn Dutta’s Abyakto.
