Dhrubo Banerjee’s pujo release ‘Karnasubarner Guptodhon’ saw completely different side of Rajatava Dutta. His stellar act as the comic villain Dasanan Daw literally blew everyone’s mind. He has played negative characters on several occasions before but with this latest act, whether it’s his comic timing, dialogue delivery or the chilling gaze at others, the seasoned actor took the craft to a whole new level.
Now, the senior actor is returning to impress all as a cop, police inspector Nalinikanta, in an upcoming thriller, directed by Soumik Chattopadhyay. He is set to play the titular role of the inspector. The thriller also has Mishka Halim, Subrat Dutt, Rupsha Chatterjee, Goutam Sarkar, and others in pivotal roles. The story will see Rajatava’s character investigating a murder embroiled in love, extramarital affairs, and revenge and he has a quirky assistant named Mustak who is just a call away whenever there’s a requirement.
The plot follows Kolkata’s renowned cosmetic surgeon Dr Aditya Sen who has an extramarital affair with one of his patients Nisha. Interestingly, on his 15th marriage anniversary, he suddenly suspects that his wife Sharmila might also be having an affair. Meanwhile, Sharmila finds out Nisha is more than a patient to Aditya. And, here comes the twist. The doctor plans to murder his Sharmila and Nisha helps him out. One night, Sharmila was attacked at home and it seems it’s an act of burglary. Inspector Nalinikanta starts his investigation and soon discovers there’s more to this crime. What happens next forms the crux of the story.
