Srijit Mukherji has already made two Kakababu films — ‘Mishawr Rawhoshyo’ and ‘Yeti Obhijaan’. While, the first film was a runaway hit, the second one received mixed reviews. And now, the third installment of Kakababu is set for a remarkable journey this Puja.
A day before Srijit and his Bangladeshi wife Rafiath Rashid Mithila’s big Kolkata reception the muhurat of ‘Kakababur Protyaborton’ brought some exciting news for the fans.
Most of the film will be shot in South Africa and will see
Prosenjit Chatterjee reprising the titular role while
Aryann Bhowmik as Santu. A small part of the production team has already reached South Africa and Srijit will reportedly be flying down this week. Prosenjit and Aryann might reach Africa this week as well.
The adventure flick is based on Sunil Gangopadhyay’s novel ‘Jongoler Modhye Ek Hotel’. The story follows Raja Roy Chowdhury aka Kakababu and his nephew, Santu, who go to Nairobi, Kenya, for a relaxed trip. There, they get hosted by a Bengali couple, Amal and Manju. He also gets an invite from an Africa-based Indian businessman and his partner to visit their hotel inside Maasai Mara forest. A few days before their arrival, some German tourists go missing from the hotel. What happens next forms the crux of the film.
Srijit, whose latest release ‘Dwitiyo Purush’ has been lapped up by the audience, was supposed to shoot the Kakababu film last year. But the project was pushed back and then the director started working on ‘Gumnaami’.
“This film will be very different from the previous two since the location will be completely different. It’s the third part of the trilogy. The first movie was shot in a desert, the second in the mountains and the third will take the audience to the jungles of Africa. I have also treated the story a bit differently and given some elements of my own. So, it will be a different experience during the Pujas this time,” Srijit had told us while speaking about the much-anticipated Kakababu film.
