The Adil-Paoli story in

Pratim D Gupta

’s last year release ‘

Ahare Mon

’ seems to have found a new life in a short film titled ‘

The Departure

’ which has now been selected at the prestigious

KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival

.

Directed by Pratim himself the screening of ‘The Departure’ will take place this Saturday, 15th June, at Liberty Cinemas, at 2.45pm under the Rainbows of Hope section.
The short film traces an unusual relationship between a frequent flyer and an immigration officer in a society still struggling with caste, age and sexual orientation.
In ‘Ahare Mon’ we had seen Paoli playing a frequent flyer who strikes a unique friendship with a lonely airport employee played by Adil Hussain. In Leena Gangopadhyay and Saibal Banerjee’s ‘Maati’ as well Paoli shared the screen with Adil. It’s always a learning experience when you get the chance to work with versatile actors and according to Paoli, working with Adil in two back to back films had taught her a lot. “I have a great tuning with Adil. He is a great actor. Above all, he is a great human being. We became good friends while shooting for ‘Mati’ and ‘Ahare Mon’.
