Abhimanyu Mukherjee made his directorial debut with ‘Noor Jahan’ earlier this year after assisting Raj Chakraborty for quite some time. His last was
Soham Chakraborty and
Srabanti Chatterjee starrer ‘Piya Re’. Both being romantic drama, ‘Noor Jahan’ didn’t enjoy a good outing at the box office, while ‘Piya Re’ received a decent response from the audience and critics alike. The talented filmmaker has two more films lined up – a thriller starring Koel Mallick in the lead and a social satire ‘Teko’ whose shooting is currently underway.
The story is about two people who are obsessed with their hair!
Abhimanyu feels his film will raise social awareness too. How the commercials influence people is something to closely watch in ‘Teko’. Though he hasn’t been influenced by any advertisement, the director says he has seen so many people who easily get influenced by these commercials.
“If a film can entertain you along with spread social awareness, then I think people would love to see it. My first two films were romantic, now I have tried my hands in social satire. Let’s hope people love the concept,” says a confident Abhimanyu.
Produced by Surinder Films, this film's plot sees a twist when Alokesh (Ritwick) starts losing his hair after he applies hair oil. While elaborating on her character, Srabanti says she always has a fascination for cool hairstyles: "My character was a huge fan of Mahendra Singh Dhoni till the time the dashing cricketer had his long locks. Once he chopped it off, she eventually lost her interest."
Shooting for ‘Teko’ is currently underway in and around Kolkata.
