Back in 2014, two detective films released. One was Anjan Dutt's Byomkesh Phire Elo and the other was
Sandip Ray's Badshahi Angti. Both the sleuths — diametrically opposite in character — were played by
Abir Chatterjee. even though the shoot for Byomkesh had wrapped up, it was released much later with Badshahi Angti and both were hits. Interestingly, Tollywood is gearing up for another clash at the box office.
And it's happening on the first day of the Bengali New Year. On Poila Boishak, Kaushik Ganguly's Drishtikone is releasing as is Aniket Chattopadhayay's Kabir. But a third angle to this story might disrupt the balance. Producer Kaustav Ray is keen on releasing Shankar Mudi, also directed by Aniket Chattopadhayay, with
Kaushik Ganguly in the lead, on the same day. Aniket, it's heard, isn't too happy about it. On the other hand, Drishtikone's producer Nispal Singh and
Kabir's producer
Dev are friends so it can be safely assumed that there won't be any hard feelings as far as the clash is concerned. But what happens if Kaustav adds Shankar Mudi to it? Guess we will have to wait and watch!
