A peek into Tnusree’s shopping diaries

Her shopping escapades are never complete without a sari and junk food
A peek into Tnusree’s shopping diaries
For actress Tnusree Chakraborty, flirting is an art and she tries to improve it with each passing day. So, how exactly does she do it, we ask. “By shopping!” pat comes the reply. “Flirting is healthy and the more you flirt the more you get to know about the other person. In my case, it’s Kolkata. I keep falling for the city as I discover its never-ending nuances.

I am a big-time shopaholic and don’t mind travelling to every nook of Kolkata to get the best of what I’m looking for. From Gariahat, Dhakuria to New Market, I can shop from anywhere. It’s not that I always have to wear branded stuff. I can happily pick up something from the streets if I like anything,” says Tnusree while choosing a big, colourful vase for her living room from a roadside stall.

It’s not just clothes that Tnusree shops for, the actress is quite interested in collecting artefacts for her house too. “More than clothes, I end up buying household items, like curtains, bedcovers and showpieces. I tend to change curtains once in three months, and with that I change the bedcovers and cushions of my room too. That apart, I like buying jewellery as well. A few months back, I had a fetish for earrings and now I am going gaga over bangles,” says the actress as she tries on a set of bangles that she plans to pair up with her new sari.

Tnusree believes that women look their best in sari. “There can be nothing more graceful than the six yards. Contrary to what many think, sari can make a woman look desirable too. In fact, I get a lot of male attention whenever I don a sari; I’ll admit I quite enjoy it. Because why not? Whenever I get an opportunity, I wear a sari and buy one too,” says Tnusree with a smile before zeroing in on a sari for her mother.
For the actress, any shopping spree is incomplete without gorging on some junk food. “I think shopping and eating go hand in hand. So, something like phuchka, egg roll, cutlet, jhalmuri or bhelpuri is a must when I’m out to shop. What I choose depends on the area I’m shopping in, as each market area has its own specialty,” adds Tnusree.
