A crowd-funded film in Bengal
Director Ujjwal Basu forayed into Tollywood with the film, Michil, starring Basabdutta and Samadarshi. And now the director has completed his second film, Dudh Pithey-er Gachh, which features Daminee Beni Basu, Kaushik Roy and Harshil Das. "There is an interesting story behind this movie. It is a crowd-funded film. There is a village called Aranghata in the district of Nadia, where 950 families have raised about Rs 19 lakh to fund this film," said Ujjwal, The film, which is in post-production now, was shot in Aranghata and its surrounding areas.
Talking about the film's story, which is penned by Ujjwal, he said, "This film is about belief.
1x1 polls
Gour, who is all of seven, believes that the way fruits and vegetables grow out of seeds, pithey too can grow if you plant and water it. He plants a pithey and waters it every day and, to his surprise, sees a sapling one day. And he dreams of a god land where there are loads of pithey trees. This too is his belief and one day, he boards a train that he thinks will take him to the god land! This is not a fantasy film, but a realistic film, which shows how we all live with our beliefs irrespective of whether they get shattered or fulfilled in the course of the journey called life."
