The past one-and-a-half years have been tough for everyone. Now, with the homecoming of
Ma Durga
, people are hopeful that things will start looking up. CT asks a few Tollywood
celebs
what they want from the Goddess this year...
‘I want the Goddess to protect children from the third wave’My heart bleeds for the children, who are still confined to their homes. They are not being able to attend classes or meet their friends. We are still in a better space, as we got our second dose of vaccination. But what will happen to the kids, if the third wave hits us? My only prayer to Ma Durga this year is to save our children from the third wave and keep them safe. That apart, I want our Tollywood industry to thrive. I also want the Goddess to keep my loved ones and associates happy.

‘This year, I want the Goddess to keep us all safe and healthy’
The very thought of Ma Durga coming home makes me feel very confident. This year, I want the Goddess to keep us safe and healthy. We want to live without fear in a COVID-free world. Social distancing shouldn’t be there anymore as we now miss the warmth when we meet and greet people. I also want Ma Durga to make me a much calmer person.
— Jaya Ahsan, actress
‘I will pray to God that we all stay healthy’What else can one want from Ma Durga other than world peace? I am really concerned about the kids and the fear of the third wave is killing me. So, this year, I want peace from within. I want the Goddess to keep the children safe. A vaccine should be introduced for them as soon as possible. That’s what I want from her earnestly. This pandemic has taught me that health is wealth, so I will pray to God that we all stay healthy.
— Soham Chakraborty, actor
‘I want the Goddess to eradicate all evils and let there be peace all over’I always pray to Ma Durga for everyone’s well-being. The past one-and-half years have been horrifying, to say the least, especially the second wave. My only wish this year is to live in a COVID-free world. Mental health has been a huge problem for many people in these difficult times, so I want the Goddess to eradicate all evils and let there be peace all over. As for me, I want to keep entertaining my audience through meaningful characters. And I want her blessings for that.
— Saswata Chatterjee, actor
‘I’ll pray that my son grows up to be a good human being’Our wants and needs change with time. Earlier, I would pray to Ma Durga for good marks in examinations. But now, I want people around me to be safe and happy. We are often too engrossed with ourselves, but this pandemic has taught us how unpredictable life can be. So, we must value life. I also pray to God that my son, Kabir, grows up to be a good human being.
