Prabuddha Banerjee had no idea that he had bagged his maiden National Award till we called him up. “What are you congratulating me for,” he asked us.
And when we told him that he has won the
National Award for Best Music Direction (Background Score) for
Kaushik Ganguly’s Jyeshthoputro, he was at a loss for words. “This is my first National Award and I’m really very happy. It feels special when your work gets recognition,” he finally said.
Besides Prabuddha, the film’s director, Kaushik Ganguly, also bagged the Best Original Screenplay award.
Speaking to us, an elated Kaushik said, “I dedicate this award to
Rituparno Ghosh. And I’m happy for Prabuddha Banerjee for winning the Best Background Score for the film. It feels great to have received the award. I love to pen my thoughts and when that is appreciated at a national level, it of course feels good and gives me the impetus to do more good work.”
