During an exclusive chat with ETimes recently, the ever-smiling actor shared how he prefers to keep his tears to himself and what professional commitment means to him.

“Ma left us on July 4 at 11.30 am due to cardiac failure. I had committed to shoot for a web series on Sunday (July 5), and it was supposed to be an outdoor session. The team was ready to cancel it for me but I asked them not to,” Kanchan told ETimes.

The actor added: “I know in these

difficult times

cancelling any shoot amounts to tremendous financial loss for the producer and in effect everyone associated with the project. The loss is entirely my own and as a professional I would not want anyone else to get affected because of that.”

Kanchan went ahead with the shoot the next day, and explained what his approach was on dealing with bereavement. “I believe grief is always personal and is not something that should be demonstrated or shared. In a way, working on Sunday helped me as I was with so many people on the sets my mind was diverted. But I am happy that in the three months of lockdown I could be with my

24x7. Something that happened after a long, long time,” said the actor. How difficult was it to essay a comic role just after a huge personal loss? “I prefer to keep my tears to myself,” adds Kanchan.
