Indelible childhood impressions are often created by teachers. Young minds learn to think the way they are taught to. Be it parents, school teachers or gurus in their creative art classes, children imbibe values as well as practical skills from what they see unfold before them. Actor Sujan Mukhopadhyay, too, has received some special learnings from his theatre guru and famous singer, actor and film director Anjan Dutt over the years. "My association with Anjanda started from the time I was in Class VII in 1987. I went to watch his play Alagin with my father. It was a production meant for children. Back then, my father encouraged me to join his theatre group. I was too young to take a decision. That's how my journey began. Anjanda would mercilessly scold me and at times I became disheartened. I would be upset back then but today I understand how he moulded me into a confident actor. Later, I worked with him in Chord Line and also in Galileo in 2012. His procedure was always modern. But now he deals differently with senior actors. He is an erudite teacher, aware of the world. His stage presentation is minimal and I consider him the best in the business. His scoldings have really come in handy. When I grew up a bit, I had fought with him many times during rehearsals," said Sujan. Sujan has also learnt a lot from his father and veteran thespian Arun Mukhopadhyay but he said that Anjan's unique way of handling him as a child artiste has had a deep impact all his life.
