Bengali celebs on the importance of vaccination

As we continue to face the wrath of COVID-19 and the second wave of the pandemic hitting the country quite hard, the vaccination drive is becoming more and more important each day. As per the government mandate, citizens above the age of 45 are now eligible for vaccination. Just like others, many Tollywood celebrities are looking forward to getting the much-awaited jabs as soon as they can. ETimes exclusively spoke to a few Bengali celebs to know their thoughts on the vaccination drive. Read on…

I have spoken to my doctor friends and medical experts. I am surely going to get a vaccine as soon as I get a chance. This is the least I can do to help everyone. Staying home is not an option for me as I have to step out to work. By getting the jab I can rest assured that I will not bring the virus home. Even after getting vaccinated, I will continue wearing a mask and sanitising myself.

I am thinking of taking the vaccine soon, as the second wave of the pandemic is getting intense by the day. Nowadays, people are hardly wearing masks or maintaining social distancing, so it is imperative that we take the vaccine and protect ourselves and our near and dear ones. I have heard many people complain that one might get infected even after receiving the shots, but I have faith in the vaccine. It is a result of a lot of effort and scientific research, so I’m sure it will be effective.

The only way to counter the second wave of the pandemic is to take the jabs without delay. We should all willingly come forward to take the COVID shots so that it saves us as well as those around us from the virus. Whether the vaccine will work or not is secondary, the most important thing is we should take it as early as possible. Some people are facing side effects after the vaccine, but I think those are temporary. Even after the vaccination, one shouldn’t lower their guard till most people around them are vaccinated.

The way the number of cases is increasing each day is alarming. The condition in Maharashtra is very bad. There are a weekend lockdown and night curfew in place to curb the spread of COVID-19, but most people seem to have let their guard down. Wearing a mask, taking a vaccine if the age limit permits, and maintaining social distance are the only ways to be safe now.

My mother took the vaccine recently and she did not suffer any side effects. All my friends’ parents have got vaccinated too. When my turn comes, I’ll surely go for it. That’s the only way forward. Our profession demands us to go out frequently, so it is important for us to get the jabs.
