Konttho
’ which releases today (May 10) sees Shiboprosad himself playing the protagonist, an RJ Arjun Mullick whose life changes forever when he gets diagnosed with
laryngeal cancer
. What happens next and how he survives the biggest challenge in his life forms the crux of the ‘Konttho’.
But not many people know that initially the makers were planning to rope in
Soumitra Chatterjee to play the RJ. Since the story was conceived 18 years ago and the film has been made after all these years, Nandita Roy decided to go for Shiboprosad.
“Earlier, we wanted to cast Soumitra Chattopadhyay in the role but then we are making the film on that story after 18 years. So, Nanditadi one day told me only you can pull out the role with elan. I am thankful to her as I see Nanditadi is always saying nobody could have done the character of RJ Arjun better than me. Initially, we titled the film ‘Sound of Silence’. That was back around 1999-2000. Actually, Konttho’s cast has changed in a major way at least two-three times. That’s because the storyline has changed over the years,” revealed Shiboprosad who is also thankful to Nandita Roy for giving him the opportunity to play such a challenging character.
