Sandip Ray has decided to share never-seen-before stills of Chatterjee from the shooting for ‘Sonar Kella’. These footages were edited out by Satyajit Ray. These footage may be lost forever but the stills from the iconic 1974 classic will be published in

. Approximately, five or six minutes of footage were edited out by this way. Incidentally, during the shooting of ‘Sonar Kella’ in 1973, Sandip had accompanied his father’s unit.

The detective genre was an unexplored area in Indian cinema when ‘Sonar Kella’ became a significant milestone in 1974 for its unique subject matter and its scope. Ray had used Indian history to explore the mystery genre. Based on a novel of the same name by Satyajit Ray himself, it deals with detective Feluda’s adventures. He gave Bengali literature a series of short stories involving Feluda and his cousin Topshe. Any cinephile who loves classical detective storytelling will surely become a fan of Ray after watching this pleasing yet thrilling mystery adventure.
