You may be surprised to know that actor Jisshu Sengupta's real name is Biswaroop Sengupta. However, the popular actor is widely known as Jisshu, his nickname. Interestingly, Jisshu's first acting break was playing Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in a TV serial which became a massive hit and he became a household name overnight. The fact is that Shri Chaitanya, in his earlier life before becoming a saint, was also known as Biswaroop. Coincidentally, Jisshu played the same man in his first big acting assignment.
Jisshu was born in Kolkata in 1977 and as a bright student studied at the Julian day School, where he was addicted to playing cricket. He graduated from Heramba Chandra College in economics, following which his professional career started in an advertising agency.
Before starting his journey as an actor, he was a talented cricketer. He even represented Bengal in some state-level sub-junior league matches. Being an avid sportsperson, Jisshu is also the captain of the Bengal Tigers team in the Celebrity Cricket League currently. He has even participated in many charity football matches over the years and Kolkata Marathon.
