Dark cloud shadows the future of Priya Cinema

Dark cloud shadows the future of Priya Cinema
It seems trouble is in an unending spiral for

Priya Cinema

. Following a shocking turn of events West Bengal Fire and Emergency Services, in less than 24 hours since giving a

NOC

to open the theatre, has scrapped its order for an indefinite time. Earlier the

fire department

sent a notice to close the hall after a fire broke out on August 5.

The latest intimation from the state fire department withdraws its earlier NOC, until the building passes the required fire safety standards. The revocation of the NOC certainly comes as a big blow to Arijit Dutta, the owner of Priya Cinema.

The family-owned south Kolkata cinema hall, one of the most visited single-screen theatres in the city, was scheduled to reopen on October 9. From October 9 to 11, Bengali cult classics produced by the Dutta family were scheduled to be screened at the theatre.

The owners will now have the chance to reapply online for the NOC which would be quicker than submitting the documents physically. But with the festive season round the corner, time is surely not on their side.
