, a gangster often called the ‘Dawood Ibrahim of Hooghly’, and was once booked in over 30 cases like murder, extortion, and drug smuggling.

Speaking about the film, the filmmaker in an exclusive chat with ETimes said: “My film will focus on an interesting blend of crime and comedy.”
Hubba, who was at large since the end-90s, was nabbed thrice but was released on bail. “Left was in power in Bengal at that time. We were witnessing a global change as people had access to the internet, mobile, FM channels and social media. Hubba had 70 mobiles,” Basu shared.

In 2009, Hubba had even filed nomination as an Independent candidate in Konnagar’s civic polls but then withdrew his candidature due to constant pressure. In 2011, police found his decomposed naked body in a canal near Baidyabati. “Through this film, I want to shed light on the changing dynamics of politics and underworld when globalization set in,” Basu revealed while sharing more details about his next.
