Bengali actress bags a lead role in Bollywood horror flick

Sayani Datta will leave for Jaipur on July 22 to resume the shoot for her debut Hindi film ‘The Wife’, being directed by Sarmad Khan. She had started shooting in March, but then it got stalled due to the

pandemic

and lockdown and Sayani had to return to Kolkata.

The actress has been paired opposite Gurmeet Choudhary, who plays her husband in this film. “We will have to be in self-isolation for a few days before we start shooting. I am waiting eagerly for the shoot to start, though I had a lovely time in Kolkata with my family,” said Sayani.

The actress, who didn’t divulge details about the film’s story, said, “It is a spine-chilling horror story. The teaser shows a haunted flat in a high rise, where supernatural activities take place. We see a woman's body hanging from the roof. More than that I can’t give out any details. We are almost done with 70% of the shoot. Now, we will shoot for the remaining 30%, maintaining the new rules of shoot from the government.” Sayani has been part of two Bengali films ‘Jadu Kadai’ opposite Rahul and ‘Michael’ opposite Mir.
