Arindam Sil busy with the pre-production of ‘Mahananda’

’ recently is currently busy with the pre-production of ‘

Mahananda

’.

“Mahananda is not an easy film to direct. Every day, we are doing a lot of research to know more about the subject. Mahananda is the story of the torch bearers of different ages who carry forward the movement named Mahashweta. It is a story of showing direction to our lives in times of social and political unrest,” Arindam told us during an exclusive chat.

How did the concept come to his mind, we asked him. “Every journey has a beginning. Mahananda is no different. And this journey began with few papers that Gargee (RoyChowdhury) handed over to me where a few pointers were written on Mahashweta Devi’s life and time. When I sat and thought about it, I realized that I must make a film on this. Mahashweta Devi is not just an author. Her contribution to our society is immense. One can say, our film is about a movement called Mahashweta Devi,” added Sil.

In the film, Gargee RoyChowdhury will be seen as Mahashweta Devi who had devoted decades of her life to uplift tribals, especially the Lodha and the Shabar communities of West Bengal. The rest of the cast includes Ishaa Saha and Gaurav Chakrabarty in pivotal roles. The film’s music is being composed by Bickram Ghosh while the script has been co-written by Subhendu Dasmunshi and Arindam Sil.
