National Award-winning filmmaker-actor Aparna Sen did something unique while stuck at home amid the nationwide lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. She conducted poetry sessions from her home for all her fans and followers on social media.
Calling herself a big fan of poetry, she has been sharing videos on her Facebook profile where she was seen reciting poems including a translation of Jibanananda’s timeless poem ‘Bonolota Sen of Natore’.

She also recited Jibanananda's ‘In the Likeness of the Sun’. She had captioned one of the videos: "We were very far from wealthy, but that was the wealth he (Aparna Sen's father) bequeathed to me."
She also recited a poem of Shakti Chattopadhyay translating it into English herself to introduce her followers to Shakti's powerfully transformative poetry.
While the celebs from T-town have been appealing to people to take all the precautionary measures in the fight against coronavirus, there are a few like Aparna Sen who have tried to point out another graving danger. The ‘Ghawre Bairey Aaj’ director who is known to be vocal on social issues have asked people to stay safe and also urged her followers not to go back to divisive politics when the crisis is over.
