Anirban Bhattacharya is miffed that without any specific reason, the screening of

Bhobishyoter Bhoot

, which is a political satire, was pulled from several theatres in the city a day after its release. The police said the film might hurt popular sentiment and there might be law-and-order problems.
“A film, even after getting a censor certificate, is stopped from being screening — this is just amazing! Then we hear there were technical glitches and people think we will buy that logic? The police said it is a directive from higher authorities. But all we want to know is the logic behind taking this step. There is no debate in any decision. I feel there is a fascist angle behind this action. What else can I say?,” said the actor. He added, “Two of my films, one with Arindam Sil and another with Anjan Dutt, got postponed. So now, I am getting time to write. Whenever I get time I pen down my thoughts of what is going on around me as that is my way of protesting. I am not part of any political party or take part in any kind of protest rallies as I feel my political ideology is very personal. I pen poems and short stories on what is happening in this time, be it political or otherwise. But I have no intention of publishing these.”
The actor, who will also be seen on stage this year, said, “I will be directing a play based on Brecht’s Herr Puntila and His Man Matti. I am working on it now. That apart, I might act in an Utpal Dutt play titled Titumir.”
Anirban, who got a lot of appreciation for his part in Finally Bhalobasa along with Suprobhat Das, said, “It was lovely working with Suprobhatda as he is a powerful actor and my acting chops got enriched because of him.”
