Dev extends support to deceased technician’s family
Actor MP Dev has once again demonstrated that compassion and responsibility go beyond the arc lights of cinema. In a heartfelt gesture he has extended long term education and financial support to the family of a film technician in a tragic accident during a shoot almost 5 years ago.
The members of the Cine Production Managers Association officially revealed that Dev took initiative to provide assistance. The late technician Raju Mondal was electrocuted while on duty during a film shoot. He was also a member of the Production Assistants Guild. Raju’s sudden demise had left his then pregnant wife completely alone. Their son was also born after Raju’s death and he is growing up without meeting his father. All of this left the family both emotionally and financially in complication.
Dev stepped in to ensure the family will not be left unattended immediately after recognising the long term impact of this loss. On his instructions Raju’s family was provided financial assistance of Rs 2.3 lakhs by the managers of the association. More significantly, monthly Rs 2,500 will be given for the child’s everyday requirements and the organization has committed to bearing his entire educational expenses. Dev is also trying to get the association to help with the expenses of the child’s health and wellness.
At a time when the film fraternity frequently speaks about safety and welfare on sets, this gesture has been widely praised by the industry insiders.
