Synopsis
Hindi film Julie was the remake of a 1974 Malayalam film. Chattakari is a remake of the same film. The story throws light on various socially relevant subjects like the life of Anglo-Indians in Kerala, the alarming rise in premarital pregnancy and the taboo associated with inter-caste marriage. Julie (Shamna), the eldest daughter of an Anglo-Indian engine-driver, falls in love with her close friend Usha\'s brother Sasi (Hemanth), hailing from an orthodox Hindu Warrier family. As their relationship advances, Julie gets pregnant. The rest of the plot revolves around the struggles of Julie and her baby, against the hypocritical fangs of society.
