AGRA: A total 20 people collected nomination forms on first day for the third phase of Lok Sabha elections in 10 parliamentary constituencies, including Firozabad and Etah.
In Firozabad, Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party chief Shivpal Singh Yadav and his nephew Akshay Yadav from the Samajwadi Party took the forms. BJP is yet to announce its candidate from Firozabad and Congress is not fielding any candidate from the constituency.
Firozabad comprises of five state assembly segments — Tundla, Jasrana, Firozabad, Shikohabad and Sirsaganj. According to the election commission, there were 16,36,738 voters in 2014 polls.
District information officer of Firozabad Prashant Awasthi said, “A total 15 candidates took the forms on the first day. The last date of nomination is April 4.”
Meanwhile, in Etah constituency, five MP aspirants, including SP leader Kunwar Devendra Singh Yadav, took the nomination forms from the Kasganj collectorate, which has been the nodal centre for the nomination of candidates who will contest from the Etah parliamentary constituency.
The entire collectorate has been decorated with flowers and tri-colour balloons. Yogendra Kumar, additional district magistrate of Kasganj, said, “The aim behind decoration of the collectorate is to celebrate the Lok Sabha elections as a festival of democracy. Special arrangements such as water cooler, stand fans, etc have been installed to make the candidates comfortable. A help desk has also been set-up to help the candidates in filing nomination papers.”
Etah comprises five state assembly segments — Kasganj, Amapur, Patiyali, Etah and Marhara. According to the election commission, there were 15,77,457 voters in 2014 polls.
