"People elected Modi for achche din, but he failed in all the fronts. Neither people got Rs 15 lakh in their bank accounts as promised during 2014 election campaign, nor jobs. Instead, demonitisation and GST destroyed lives. Today, there is now so much resentment in public against Modi that people at some places beat me up only because I resemble him," Pathak said after filing his nomination for Lok Sabha elections in Lucknow.

A native of

Saharanpur

, Pathak is living in Mawaiyya area of Lucknow for the past five years. He shot into fame in 2014 when he campaigned for Modi in Varanasi. However, in October 2018, he left BJP saying that Modi's policy are anti-people and campaigned for Congress during assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

However, Pathak is now disenchanted with Congress as well because his requests for ticket were not entertained. "Now I am want to build my own identity and fighting elections on `roti, kapda and makan' issues," said Pathak, who collected Rs 25,000 required for security money for nomination in Lucknow through crowd funding. He is carrying out a similar exercise for nomination in Varansi.
